You need to have a bootable disc of Vista, then restart the computer and boot from the disc (press any key at boot from disc prompt), during setup you can delete your old partition or format it so the drive is blank, if you delete the partition you will make a new one using the whole space. You might have to change the BIOS settings to allow you to boot from a disc first (y)

Bear in mind deleting the partition or formatting it will remove all data so back things up first.

To see if you have two partitions look in my computer for the logical hard drives, if there is two but you only have one physical drive it's partioned into two, but I don't think it would in a favourable way to allow you to format one.

Are you getting a boot menu when you turn the PC on, asking whether you want to boot Vista or 7?
ya

What I'm on about is relevant if you have one drive that has one partition, as you can't remove 7 without formatting the drive. So you have to sacrifice the Vista you have put on to get rid of 7. :)

Quite easy really, You got to PC world or an online retailer. You pay roughly £100 and you get this amazing thing in return called a Bootable DVD which Windows on it.

You then put the DVD in your drive and boot off it and follow the numpty wizard.
£100:eek: **** of. i had vista on the computer when i got it and then i let my bellend brother near it and he fort it would be agood idea to download some windows7 testing thing:bang:

In that case you should have recovery media with the PC?. Most PC's have a big window that opens up when you first turn it on saying something along the lines of:-

"Insert Provided Blank DVD to create your Recovery Media"

THIS IS IMPORTANT. if your recovery partition were to be become deleted by an idiot brother or through innocent data corruption caused by a faulty Hard Disk. You can then use this media to recover your PC back to "Factory State"

I'd bet a months wages on the fact he's wiped the whole hard drive and let vista do its thing with the partitioning.

Sorry if its a bit of a Rant but its my #3 frustration when dealing with customers .

If you have a legit OEM key on the side of your case download a Vista OEM Iso and burn it to a disk. Make sure you install the version your key is for (I.E Business, Ultimate etc etc).

iv got a product key is that is that it

In that case get your a** on a popular torrent site and download Windows Vista OEM, then burn it to DVD with a program such as Nero / Iso Burner etc.

Put disk in drive, boot of Drive and then go through the wizard. Don't forget to find drivers once installed (the software that tell Windows how to utilise your hardware inside the PC properly).

That should be it job done.

Don't let your idiot brother loose on your PC again (y) :p
