Help wanted with Bravo Cam Belt Change

Morning Peeps.

I have been told by Fiat that i need a cam belt change on my R Reg Bravo HGT.
I am not sure if they are trying to scare me or not, but the price they quoted me for doing it gave me palpatations...

Anyone know of a garage in the South East (preferably around the Canterbury, Faversham, Ashford, Maidstone Area that will 1) have a look and 2) if needed, do the cam belt at a reasonable price?

To be honest I reckon your best bet is to just ring around, I rung around my local area and scouted out the cheapest, luckily it's about a minute walk from where I work! I was going to do it myself but was just a bit worried about getting the timing right, so thought it would be worth getting it done at a garage then I've got peace of mind and guarantee

Rog at poweritalia is the most highly recomended, he's in essex. And despite what people say, it IS possible to do the cambelt yourself on a HGT/20v engine.

How many miles has your motor done? and has it got any service history?

do it yourself if you can?,get a engine crane off someone or hire it £20 for day (or weekend depending when u get it).Get engine out and do it all yaself

my dad(mechanic)did mine.he said he had to take batery tray out and slacken engine mountings abit then take weight of engine with 1 jack and push the engine over with another.think theirs a guide for it on here or the fiat forum?

yer you can move it over,it is possible.heard a few people say that too.buy everythin,keep receipts etc,only thing you wont have is a stamp in the book

You're sort of in my neck of the woods Jonny.

I work in Canterbury (live in Folkestone). With my Coupe which has the same engine as your HGT, I take it to PowerItalia in Essex. Doesn't take long to get there and they know what they're doing.

£400ish for a cambelt change iirc although their prices have changed recently and gone up a tad.

Worth a look.
