Has anybody got any ideas on what I need to do with my wifes sick Bravo.

Yellow engine symbol warning light comes on as you go above 10 miles per hour and sometimes flashes or stays on permanently also misfiring as well.

I have disconnected the battery (over 1 hour) and through this reset the ECU. As this fault only started last night.

After resetting ECU I ran on idle for 5 minutes and then took it off down the road and the fault has returned.

Do I need a new ECU if so do you know where I can get one or can this one be repaired or is it something else Please Help

many thanks

Martin

what engine is the car and are there any other faults apparent while driving other than the light on the dash? ie does it feel lethargic or lumpy, non responsive etc?

Hi Andy

Its a 1.2 16v petrol

The engine seems lumpy but when it is going it goes well but the engine light comes on again when it starts misfiring hope this helps

I'd go get a diagnostics done on it, sounds like the problem I had last week, which turned out to be a problem with one of the HT leads, i got a diagnostics done and they changed the leads, now it runs fine again. Mine is a 1.2

Hi Chris

Do you know where I can get a Diagnostics done and if so what the cost is?

many thanks

Martin

the problem while running does sound like the HT leads, my 1.2 did the same a while ago but no light on the dash...

the diagnostic can be done at an independant fiat specialist or well tooled up local mech, failing that its a fiat stealer job :(

price can vary, but it can be anything between £20 - £50 but i have heard of higher prices

if you dont mind taking a risk you can try new HT leads, at £15 i personally would. what you could do is get them then wait until its dark, take the engine cover off then start the car. if you look at the engine while its running you may be able to see if one of the leads has gone by visibly seeing the spark from the HT lead onto the block or one of the spaced bolts that hold the engine cover clear of the block. my HT lead for cyl No 1 was rubbing against the forward raised bolt and i could see it sparking. this way you can possibly see if it is the HT lead, and if not you can teake them back and get a refund :) also possibly worth swapping the plugs while you at it?

when was the last service and what was replaced?
