This started tonight, on my way home from work. I noticed pulling out of my parking space, there was a cyclic rubbing noise from between the steering wheel and steering wheel column cover when te wheel is being turned. (a bit like a slightly buckled bike wheel rubbing against a brake pad)

I've adjusted the wheel position, but the noise is still there. Tried to shake it, and watched it turning round and there doesn't seem to be any play in it. It still drives the same. I can't hear it when the radio is on (which is near enough all the time), but I still know it is there which is enough to niggle me. I can't imagine anything being trapped down their neither as I only concentrate on driving (no eating etc...) when i'm sat in it.

Anybody come across this before or have any idea?

Have you had the steering cover recall done yet? was it fitted correctly?

Sounds familliar mate. THink I have the same problem, it's like a squeeking, creaking sort of noise when turning at slow speeds, like when parking. Well my car has been in the dealers for over 3 ****ing weeks which I'm well pissed off about. This is one of the little niggles I had and they tell me they were unable to hear it until they had my car for about a week and 2 days (???). Due to pick it up tomorrow and I've got the feeling I may be forced to loose my temper if all is not as it should be. Especially after 3 and a bit weeks!!!

nothing like good old fiat techs eh.

One of my cars was in the workshop for 2 weeks.....well not in the workshop, used to drive parts around and get their staff home. Then they told me they couldnt find a fault, i recon they didnt have enough company cars for the staff so they thought they would put 1000 miles on my car....oh and i found brand new oil filters, air filters and other small parts in the boot....nice one glyn hopkin!!!!
