Hi all,

The other day when I turned my engine on, suddenly the USB memory stick I use wasn't working. I tried two others, and they didn't work either. When you press the "CD" button, the words "AUX" come up on the screen (as opposed to "MEDIA PLAYER" which came up when the USB sticks worked).

At the same time, my mileage now flashes all the time.

What happened? Did I inadvertantly press a button? Did I break something? :(

Really appreciate it

I think you need to power cycle the car (disconnect battery and leave for 30 odd mins) or something (don't do this without reading in to it, as you will need radio codes etc).... Have a search, I'm sure it has probably been covered previously.

I'd be interested to hear how you got on with this, did dis-connecting the battery solve the problem or did it have to go back to Fiat?

Regards Jon

hey there - were you able to find out the reason and a solution for it?

mine is exactly the same!... it was working perfectly fine while i was driving... made a turn and then in the middle of a song, it just suddenly stopped and never worked again. i tried powering off the car - and when i started it up again, the word "AUX" comes up AND the mileage started flashing too!!!

i'm not sure what i did wrong and like you said, if i had inadvertently pressed a button or two while making that damn turn. can you let me know how you got yours fixed?

thanks!!!

Flashing mileage appears to be associated with the internal computers not talking to each other correctly. This appears common to 500 and plenty have posted about it. I have seen only one reference to a fix and that’s a software update. Other than that taking the car back to the dealer and them realigned the cars computers is the only other solution and that doesn’t appear to be a permanent fix.

The fact that your B&M also isn’t working does point to a similar problem, some people had anecdotal evidence that B&M issues caused flashing mileage too but as your B&M isn’t working you definitely needs a dealer to put it all right. Try pulling the plug on the battery but Im not sure it will sort the underlying problems.

I generally turn the ignition to mar and wait until all the lights go out before starting the car this is preventative and not a cure.
