Help please. Qu. Is there an easy way you can tell if the variator has been changed... is it easy to see? Although the car service says cambelt has been done there is no written evidence that the variator has also been done?

Many thanks in advance...

Simple answer is no! It's a sealed unit as such and there are no outward signs to tell whether it is a new one or not unless it looks really shiny:)
Really though, if it is not noisy then dont worry about it! regards clive.

I was getting a strange ticking at about 3000 revs and with all that's been said of the variator did the usual panic thing & spoke to a dealer that had some experience with the Barchetta (Keswick motors).

He stated it was a vibration on the flexi-pipe on the exhaust and that they no longer automatically replace a faulty variator unit, but now clean them out first.
