Help needed with HGT.

was a non runner. fixed it to the point where it will turnover, but wont rev.

If i leave it it comes to a steady idle at 1000rpm.

However when i put my foot donw, the revs, stay constant, or even go down a bit to 8/9000 rpm.

When i take my foot off the accelerator the revs go up to about 12/13rpm.

Any ideas what this could be.. been like this for months now, and really wana get it back on the road.

Thanks

its a 1999. hgt 155

Where asbouts is the ICV on a bravo

not sure where it is but i were going to suggest that plus the accelator is on what is called a fly by wire (dont know if you knew that) it could also be that too just a thought

it was the Maf i think your right! cool!

unplugged it, and now i can rev my car a lot

Now think the clutch is gone!

What could this be?> when i put my fool even slightly down i get a horrible scraping/whirring noise.

When i put it in 1st gear and rev it 5000 revs plus, the wheels hardly turn round at all. they are not turning at the same speed as the revving of the engine.. not by a long way.

Told it could be thrust bearing? Where is this on a bravo? and have you gota take the gearbox off to replace?

cheers

Hi,

How long has the car been standing as the friction plate could have glued itself to the flywheel (lack of use)
As for the thrust bearing that is inside the gearbox and pushes agaist the pressure plate which in turns operates the clutch.
If this has gone then i,m afraid its a box out job.
If you are going to change the thrust bearing do the whole clutch , false economy otherwise you are looking at about £150 for a clutch kit +labour ( i had mine done 2 months ago for £ 300.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
