Hello everyone,

I have a 95 Barchetta that we have rebuilt the engine. The entire rebuilding process has been completed and several old components have been replaced such as the cam opener, the clutch and sensors. Everything is assembled and ready to start, but the car don't start.

When the ignition is turned on, the injection error light and the code key light come on. We have tried to connect the ECU using multiecuscan and KKL cable to check and clear errors, but we are unable to do so. However, we can connect to the airbag and ABS units without problems.
Having ruled out a connection, program or cable problem, we have checked the ECU contacts, wiring and even bought a new ECU to see if this was the problem. The fuel pump has also been checked and it works fine. But nothing has worked.

The car still won't start and we don't know what else we can check.
Any ideas or clues would be welcome because right now, we don't know what else to look at.

Thanks in advance,

You won't be able to start with the key symbol illuminated.
Have you ever seen it running?

Did you used to drive this car before you rebuilt engine?

If you using a 3pin adapter to connect multiecu scan the locations of the plug in vehicle are different for each ecu. The air bag ecu plug is in different place to engine ecu diagnostic plug.

I'm not barcetta expert fingers xed someone who is will join in.

Yes, we found then and tested. But the only one that don't work was the ECU connection

It is possible if wiring plug connected to wrong sensor on engine to cause no communication with ecu.
With the work you have done is it possible wiring connected incorrectly?

I think it could be. I'll check it again next week

Unfortunately I don't have the second key. Do you know if I could request one from Fiat?
What you need for a 95 model is the red key. This is the master key and needed to program other keys

Not sure what you can do if you haven’t got it, you could ask a Fiat dealer, but not sure how successful it will be

Sensors checked and ok. We'll check wiring next. Thanks
