Hi everyone. My gear stick lost the will to live yesterday (no jokes please) could not get any gear apart from 3rd. Anyway looked at ALL the posts on this forum and found how to do a quick fix with a cable tie. So what i'm after now is some advice on how to change the gear selector cable. Is it somthing i can do myself? If so how? also can i still get the part and how much i'm a going to get ripped off price wise and where from.
Any help would be great.
CHEERS.

hey, i have the same issue with mine, i went to fiat, to be informed that fiat no longer make that part anymore. i used unibond extreme to re-glue the rubber, and zip-tied the cable to the selector arm. Been on for a couple of thousand miles now! just hope it lasts longer than i need it to!!

Hi got the Citroen Synergie version of this.
If you want to change cable tie sting to engine end of cable so it is easy to pull through the new one.
The heater covers (under the ash tray) have to be removed. Then unclip at gearchange handle.
There is a rubber bung that has to be prised out at bulkhead.
Then it is reverse to fit BUT it is tight!
The bulkhead bung it difficult to get back in. lubricate first.
I got a cable of Ebay from a car being stripped. £30 including P&P.
May be easier with 2 people.
Hope this helps.
Frank

PS
I had an idea before I changed cable, of getting a washer, the right size, making it into a type a circlip (half moon) and forcing it on to keep rubber on. If it worked I was going to tack weld it on or araldite it. It seems a common fault by the way on all the variants.

Hi. Thanks for the info and tips. Looks like i will have to bodge it for now and then go on the hunt for a cable (a old one by the sounds of it). Cheers again people. (y)(y)(y)
