Help Needed asap ppl..............

Hi guys,
For the last few days my brakes have been funny, my handbrake sticking on.
I finally get round to looking at them and my rear brake cylinder is p**sing out brake fluid.
Ok rang about got some prices but cant seem to work out if its abs or normal brakes.

Its a 1.6 2000 trofeo

Can any one help???

Don't know about her abs, but her glutes are supposed to be quite nice!

ABS or not makes no difference to the wheel hydraulics. If the rear brake cyl is leaking fluid then you just need a new one of them, no need to worry about the ABS.

Well i just checked my chassi no and i do have abs.
But the lad at the car shop told me there is 2 diffrent ones. one for abs which thankfully he has in.

The best way to know if u have ABS... when u stamp on the brakes does it lock up and make pretty black lines and smoke or does the brake peddal bounce under ur foot and you come to a fairly instant stop!


with a faulty brake cylinder... you'll do neither!!!!!!

Well took the back wheel apari have the wrong cylinder.
Ahh well yet another day as a pedestrain.

I'm pretty sure the only change in rear wheel cyl design was in 96, ABS makes no difference except to the rear hub carrier.

They fitted brake systems from two different manufacturers through the years.

easiest (and safest) way to tell if u have ABS, is to look at the dash when u turn car on.

With key at first position, if u've got an orange circle with ABS in it, then u have ABS.

A lot safer than stamping on the brakes.

Or even simpler still is to find the ABS actuator under the bonnet.

Either way, it doesn't affect the rear wheel cylinder.

Well all fixed now 3 cylinders later.
I reckon its been leaking since the Boo xmas meal.
Cant beleive how much i rely on my car.
