O.K. the story so far, I have a Marea Weekend(estate) and smothed the tailgate, removed the wiper assembly and the lock/handle mechanism.
I then relocated the number plate into the rear window with the number plate light aswell, so it will light up on a night as the law requires. I also relocated the tailights into the rear window but slightly tinted the screen where the lights are so it all looks black until illuminated, however where the numb' plate is there is no tinting.
See above pic'.
The filth have decided to stop me every time I drive anywhere complaining the lights are not clearly visible and that they are not "TYPE APPROVED".
So after being stopped several times in one week I decided to comply and re-install the original lights but leaft the plate in place, my argument being that it is clearly visible and that if the local buses can mount there numb' plate behind the rear glass screen then so can I.
Today the filth knocked on my door and ordered me to relocate it to the outside of the car, even thou' the car was parked on my PRIVATE DRIVE. Offcourse being a diplomatic person I told said ORIFFICER to and I quote "GET THE FxCK OFF MY PROPERTY AND TELL HIS WIFE THAT I DON'T PAY ANYONE FOR SEX" . He looked rather suprised especially when I then told him if he did not arrest me or charge me I would phone the real PIGS and have him charged with tresspass.
So anyone in the know or even better any M.O.T testers out there take a look and tell me am I breaking the law, if I am then I will comply, if not then FxCK the lot of 'em.

I FOUGHT THE LAW AND wait and see??

MOT

The main thing on the actual registration plate in the MOT testers manual can be found at

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_630.htm

The illumination of the plate is at

http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_110.htm

Typre approval is not required for the mounting of number plates. The police might say that by mounting behind sloped glass the plate is not visable at night or under street lighting because of reflection.

What they are more likely to be concerned about is that its position could be mistaken for a police stop sign, but thats is just my opinion.

Re: Suggest you print this off, check it and give to the police!

Maybe mount the plate under the rear bumper with the wiring going thru the boot floor

I can understand why the dont like it but if its within all the DVLA regs tell em to shove it up their ass and take you to court if they want to.

Same with lights - if you've got a friendly mot place near you go and show him the lights and if hes happy that they are legal and would pass an mot, maybe he could write a ltter as a qualified vehicle examiner saying that the lights are legal

Tell em to **** Off!

Just tell em to **** off and go catch some serial killer or sex offender and stop wasting everyone elses time. They are only jealous of your car cos they've got to drive round in a bloody panda car all day!

Re: Tell em to **** Off!

I'm not sure if there are rules about the height at which the plate must be mounted, it may be worth checking.

I'm almost certain that there's a law that the plate must be mounted vertically, is yours at an angle?
