IMO u escaped Jug.... kinda like passing up an offer from a gorgeous woman u never met before in a bar in a city u dont know.... leave it at that, a flirtation that fate rescued u from... (y)

what a romantic way of looking at it :D

Yea but she might have been one of those Blackpool Party gals u mentioned on another Thread.... Less romantic now lol! :D

to be honest there is only 1 reason i didnt buy it, someone stuck ZT badges on the dashboard.
i dont want to own a car that was previously owned by anyone who would do something like that.

maybe thats stupid, or maybe i saw the signs and made the right decision. either way its too late to wonder about so i'll get back in my alfa after work today and let her know that she's still my baby.

How many of the rover bashers in this thread have actually owned one? Or even driven one for that matter?

I owned an 1984 Austin (Rover) Maestro 1.6 HLS. It was the worst car I've ever owned as it spent most of its life being repaired. At 50K miles. I also had the mis-fortune to work on and drive Minis, Allegros and Marinas. However, they are somewhat of the older school Rover/ Austin/ BL era so not that representative of the more modern designs.

To be fair the 1990 onwards Rover 200 was a damn good car and won many awards. Then again, it was little more than a re-badged Honda ;)

My mum has owned a rover 600 from brand new for 10 years. Its done 84k and she only just had it serviced for the first time this year because I recomended she have the cam belt done. Not a single fault for 10 years. Nothing falling off, not quality issues, no breakdowns, no rust, no horrendous engine failures of any kind etc.

Of course, she opted for the Honda engine at the dealership but still... The rest of the car is still in one piece and going bloody strong (y)

If I recall correctly, the 600 model wasn't just the engine from Honda. It was the whole car? (Honda Accord?)

Screw the 75/ZT (or even ZT-T!) get a V8 SD1

Or get that V8 MG saloon car they did before they went under? Converted to RWD and with a Mustang V8 under the bonnet. Now there's a drift machine for you :slayer:

wouldve saved some money there spent it on the sex change and the hairdressing or manicurist course :)

the 600 was a honda based car but best of the lot was the rover T-series engined TI with torsen diff, mean machine 220bhp plus.. as with the tomcat 220 tubby,,

mg-zt is the best out of the lot for the zr/zs/zt/z-tt range, bmw did a good job shame british workforce and the phoenix 4 let it down...

wouldnt touch the k-series enigned ones as the car was far to heavy for it,, the KV6 lump is a good engine but is based on the 4cyl k-engine, dampliners and still known for head problems,.,, and cambelts are 600 quid pluss to have changed,,, best one out of the lot is the 135 cdti ,, or the cdti auto... mappable to 160-65 bhp.. and shed loads of tourque,,, bmw lump with cam chains which can see 200k miles without inspection, i was a rover/mg freak. and so is my dad... had 4 rovers on the drive at one time... 75/400 vvc convo/tomcat auto/and a zr... only the 75 left now.. :(
