Good Afternoon, Can someone please post a picture of where the gearbox fits onto the engine from the bottom if possible. I have a little bit of oil leaking out and it seems to be coming from what we think is a breather hole. Dribble stops if bolted where breater hole is but don't want to mess up the gearbox/clutch if its a breather!

Any ideas?

the Gearbox, as RR said is a sealed unit to the extent of there are no breather holes and you shouldnt have an oil leak unless there is an issue of some sort.

i have a couple of pictures, they are of my 1.2 just after the last one blew :) if you have a look and see if anything matches up, let me know and i should be able to tell you where you stand

the pic that should help hopefully is on the second page

there are just some people that screw you up and dont give a damn, unfortunately i seem to have found that one!!!

I had a leak on mine some time back. It was coming between the main box and the 5th gear housing. I think it had been disturbed during the clutch change as they didnt take the engine out to do the change on my HGT.

Took it to a transmission specialist who resealed the unit.

Thanks for the response the hole in question is the one circled.

I had the clutch replaced 4 months ago and it started leaking 2 weeks ago, we placed a bolt in this hole and it stopped it but were then informed it could be the seal inside and that this was a breather hole!?! But when the bolt was in place it stopped the leaking, although there was a smell of gear oil wafting around even though no leaking.

Thoughts appreciated

well if it is a breather hol, its only the clutch breathing...

there should be no oil coming out as the isnside of the bell housing is an open area where the clutch sits, so needs to be dry and free from oil! i would suggest the seal has gone and needs to be replaced, as thats the only real reason oil would come from there

Go back and double check. At first it appeared that mine was dripping from there. However, its the lowest point of the box and oild drips to there then to the floor.

Have a check further to the right (from the bove pic). The 5th gear housing is like an extra box bolted on to the end.. The seal on mine had gone tere. The oil was then slowly moving down the outside of the box to the area where you circled before reaching the floor.

Worth a check and less expensive
