I've tried searching to no avail, so here goes!

Recently my remote alarm/locking button on one of my keys broke, so I lost my remote locking and alarm.

I got my spare key...dead battery, put a new battery in, but the car didn't recognise it any longer. New battery and everything is ok again.

Got Red key and programmed spare blue key into ECU fine.

I can't now get the spare key's remote to talk to the alarm sensor.

I was told by FIAT that the car had to have a diagnostic, at a cost of £65...which is think is a load of Bull£^$&.

Isn't it just a case of pressing the reset button on the reciever unit in the car and then pressing the button on the key??

Its a 2001 1.8 HLX by the way.

Any help gratefully recieved.

I'm not sure why you used the red key to program your blue key to the immobilisor as the red key is only for the immobilisor and programming the chip inside to register with it.

You need to add the alarm key to the alarm ecu.

You do that by getting a pen or pointy object and press the button in the ceiling light. Then when it the LED in the ceiling light starts flashing while still pressing the button press the alarm button on they key. If the light goes out it did not work. Which maybe the case as the system normally locks itself after x amount of activations of the alarm.

What you will then need is the code card with the keys alarm codes on them aswell as other info. They are 4 digit codes for the alarm. Cost approx £10 - £15 from fiat.

When you get the codes you press the ceiling light button and then wait for the first flash and then enter the first digit, i.e 4.3.0.1, you will press the ceiling button 4 times, wait for the flash, press the ceiling 3 time, wait for flash, dont press it at all for zero, wait for flash and then press the ceiling button once and wait for flash.

It should then start flashing if its accepted or if its not accepted it will stay constant on.

If it accepts it press the ceiling button light again while its still flashing and hold your alarm key button pressed till the light stays on permanently.

Hope this helps.
