Hello all, loving the site. Newbie Scottish Fiat owner, bought a Mk2 1.2 Punto 16v Sporting January 2012 and I'm looking forward to revealing a puntos true potential.
Will be uploading some photos of the car, and maybe make a progress thread. Had a bit of problems (high maintenance car!)
I'd love to get chatting and find out more about everyone's experiences.

Used to have a mk2 myself a couple of years back, albeit in poverty spec 1.2 8v. Was fairly reliable until I took it to the local Arnold Clark every now and again where they'd "find" lots of issues with it :laugh:

That's not quite what I meant but as I have very little experience (well ok absolutely none :laugh in running an old fiat I can not comment knowledgeably

From what I've learned through this site though is the quality of the car largely depends on how it has been treated. Unfortunately Fiat is seen as a cheap marque and quite often they're not looked after the way they should be which leads to break downs. That's not to say they're not without problems but virtually every marque has it's weakness and this should be taken into account when judging them for reliability. e.g. an old polo of mine had the shittest brakes ever even when they'd been completely changed. I used to almost go through the windscreen when I braked in other cars

So yeah, problems do occur and the members of this site can provide advice and encouragement (I only do the latter cos I have no technical skills and am only here for the craic).
