Hello,

Just joined FF as I have had my first Fiat (a new Punto Easy+) for 5 weeks now and absolutely love it. Although this is my first Fiat (and my first new car), I am not a total stranger to the brand as my dad had a Fiat 128, a Fiat Strada and some years later a Fiat Brava when I was growing up.

Looking forward to many happy miles.

Warren.

Thankyou.

I hadn't intended buying a Punto and kind of stumbled on it by accident. When my old car died of death I needed something fairly quickly and as soon as I saw it I thought it looked really smart. Will try and get a photo up in the Members Motors section shortly.

I had an 06 Grande Punto for ages and I have to say it was one of the most enjoyable cars to drive. Really sweet ride and yet I swapped it for a Panda. Go figure.

Hope yours gives you years of pleasure. Don't swap it for a Panda would be my advice. :)

They're absolutely lush! Fantastic to drive: fun on a good road, but also an excellent little cruiser; very comfortable, good on fuel, well kitted out, (depending on the variant) and that design!! Such a stunning looking car! Wol: hopefully, you'll enjoy your Punto as much as I enjoy my Grande, and Camo16 enjoyed his! :)

Thanks guys. I think the Punto in general (whether it be the Grande, the Evo or the 2012+) is a smart looking supermini.

There is some irony Camo16 in your post. I found the Punto by accident as my wife found an advert for a brand new Panda Pop. As we have 2 young boys I felt it may not be quite big enough and on searching further on the dealers website we found my Punto.

As it is an Easy+ it has lots of goodies on it, none of which I specifically wanted, but boy am I glad I have them now!

Not big enough for a family? Yup. I did 350 mile trip with wife, son and MIL in the car and they still talk about it... And not in a good way. I think you chose the right Fiat! :)

I agree - Pandas are epic. But I'm now under strict instructions, which are:

1. No regular (non Grande) Puntos
2. No silly rusty cars
3. And definitely no Pandas

Sad, really. :(

They are beautiful superminis. I'd wanted a Grande from the moment I saw the pictures in TopGear mag, and I bought 1 in April 2014: I still admire it whenever I park up or walk past it, lol! :D

And I can relate to what you say about the goodies: my Grande is an Eleganza, so it's stuffed full of kit. :D After owning a Punto mk2b Active, it all took a bit of getting used to, lol! ;)

Why wouldn't you be allowed a mk1 or mk2 Punto 5dr?

And what do they think about your Tipo, lol?

Well, after the horrific Panda road trip, the feeling is small is definitely not beautiful. :( A punto 5-door may well get by the size test, just, but I'm just not going there after the furore that was Pandagate.

All's well, though - they love the Tipo! They love it even more when it it has an exhaust. ;)

My parents previous car was a fairly early mk2 Punto 5dr: the 3 of us used to go to Cornwall in it every year, lol! ;)

And it's good that they love the Tipo. :)

Cheers, when I was a lad the four of us used to drive from Mid Wales to the South of France in a battered old 2CV. The drive back with oodles of wine bottles crammed in our footwells was... Interesting. I doubt people do that kind of thing these days though.

Did it take you long to find the Tipo Camo? What model have you got?

I haven't seen one of those for years! I remember when I was at school many moons ago and the parents of one of the lads in our class bought a new one (a DGT). They were so please with it that they went and bought a base spec one as a second car.

Wol - it took a few months!

It's really hard to find one that relatively rust free these days.

Mine's a 1989 1.4 DGT... in light metallic green. Love the digi dash!!

As I've posted elsewhere, the exhaust fell off after 8 days, so we're having a slightly tetchy relationship at the moment... but we will pull through and become closer as a result of this early spat, I'm sure. :)
