it's an excellent idea, and as long as you start simple. building from there you'll do well,

read a few of the GUIDES to get an idea of what's simple / or not,

buying a Manual for your vehicle is also worthwhile when you are getting to know your way around it,
EBAY , etc can get a good used manual for @ £5
