Welcome to the forum. Camberley? When I worked for Firestone based out of the Brentford factory on the Great West Road back in the late '60s/early 70s we lived in the "new" houses just over the bridge towards Blackbushe. Newly married, in a good job and just starting our family - many happy memories. The daily drive up the A30 to Brentford and back was a bit of a car killer and overall grind though!Hello to everyone.
Aux belt has just failed on my wife's 2021 500 MHEV.
Not going to get many mechanics over Christmas so I'd beet get the spanners out!

I'm probably in those houses. I'm in Hawley in a 60's built house!Welcome to the forum. Camberley? Thank you, that gives me some confidence. I bought the Haynes manual and it shows a generic page on a Ford Focus!Unlucky timing
It’s usually a straightforward job if the belt has just snapped. Check the routing diagram (often under the bonnet or online), make sure the tensioner spins freely, and inspect the pulleys before fitting the new belt.
If it’s the MHEV version, just be careful around the belt-driven starter/generator; disconnect the battery first to be safe.
Should get you back on the road until a garage opens up![]()
Clanfield Ride was the name of the street. 3 bed end terrace. Cost £5,730 back then and it seemed so much debt I was constantly worried how on earth I was going to keep up the payments! The price included partial central heating - downstairs only, 3 radiators if I remember? - gas back boiler in the living room.I'm probably in those houses. I'm in Hawley in a 60's built house!
Does look like it doesn't it? I would guess that's the circular spring case behind it at about 7 o'clock?Just a guess, and this video is from the 4-pot Firefly so there might be some differences
this looks like a tensioner for the aux belt to me, I'd imagine a spanner on the nut and it should pivot to allow the belt to be replaced

Good luck. Let us know how you get on won't you?Yes, I think you're right.
Credit where it's due, it was you Jock who introduced me to that video of the Firefly, so thank you for that
Maybe not the finest episode of Firefly I've ever seen, but still an interesting watch
Now, whether there's space to get a spanner on that tensioner nut...![]()
