Hello!....please help!!

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a gurgling/bublling sound every time i reved the car. I took it the local gargage and they said it was the start of the head gasket going. So...I got the head gasket replaced.
The noise is still there and now they think it's the heater matrix. However, wherever I have looked online, people with heater matrix problems seem to have their car heater going hot and then cold alternately. My air heater in the car is constantly blowing air out that hot that I can't put my hand in front of it - and it doesn't cool down at all.

I've looked under the bonnet and it seems that I have the following symptoms:

1. The bubbling/gurgling noise
2. Constant EXTREMELY hot air from the air heater
3. The bottom of the radiator is staying cool but the pipe in to the top is getting very hot.

Any ideas anyone.

Could be the thermostat stuck closed.

Are you using a lot of water?

I don't seem to be using much water.

My dad thought it might be the thermostat but then what would the bubbling sound be?

The garage seem to be sure it is the heater matrix but I'm not convinced.
