Hi guys, im new on this forum, and a happy owner of a 1.3multijet fiat punto(188)70hp

Till today ( 125.000km ) i had the following problems.
Timing chain replaced at 100k km (turns out it was the tensioner`s fault)
Thermostat replaced
Glowplugs replaced
...and thats all

Now the upgrades
1z garrett turbo (1.9 tdi) (spools below 2500rpm and its making boost till around 4000rpm)
Custom map (runnig low boost ~ 0.7 bar)
Straight pipe (nice sound)
Stock injectors, stock fuel pump, stock intercooler, stock clutch, stock gearbox.

And im not going anyway further, i think i`m doing somewhere below 100hp, but i feels pretty quick (didn`t dynoed it) and im stopping. Although the engine can do more (TRW performance is selling a 170hp kit for 1.3mjt engines) i decided that it still is a small engine for a big project.
Im keeping it for daily driving(good mpg), and i bought for the "project" a Polo 9N (1.9 tdi-PD AXR)

Welcome to the forum and being one of only very few of us with 1.3 multijets

I've heard these engines can be remapped to 100bhp with no other modifications, I did have a 1.9multijet HGT which was a standard 100hp but had much better brakes and suspension and handled and stopped much better which I why I've left my 1.3 as standard.

Still great car and great engine so a very warm welcome

At first, thank you!

Ziggy, i dont know much about how sensible the 1.3 engine is, although i think it could handle somewhere around 130hp, with stock rods.
Anyway, it cant face the mighty 1.9 tdi-pd engine, with so insane torque.
+ the 1.9tdi can reach ~200bhp, with a 3.0tdi turbo swap and a good map

Andyrkett, yeah, they can be remapped to around 100bhp, and yes, i am also feeling the need of better brakes, i felt it even with the stock 70hp engine. The brakes can be swapped from the 1.8 hgt punto.

Cheers!

With great power come epic turbo lag, if you want 200bhp it's better to start with something closer to it. Certainly not a Punto

Yes you can swap the brakes from an petrol 1.8 hgt but, the diesel hgt has bigger front discs ;)

the turbo from the 3.0tdi engine is using a variable geometry, so the lag isn`t so "epic"
the 1.8 hgt brakes would do just fine.
