Hello. This is my first post.
My 2016 Ducato 130 needs a timing belt change. It has only done 18,500 miles.
Is it advisable to have the water pump changed at the same time?
Im close to Chesterfield and Mansfield. Can anyone recommend a garage to do this job?
Local Chesterfield main Fiat dealer quoted me £1,150 for belt change only.
Thank you.

Hi landrovereditor

In addition to mileage, Cambelt changes are recommended by Fiat every 5 years, though my main dealer told me 6 is OK. The logic is that it is a rubber component that deteriorates over time, and the chances of it failing at less than 5 years are extremely small. It might last 10 years, but who wants to gamble with their engine ? Waterpumps seem to be reliable on these engines, so are not routinely changed.

In 2015 I had just the cambelt changed by a motorhome specialist, total cost £350

In 2020 I had the cambelt, tensioner and auxiliary belts changed, plus the crank oil seal. Total cost £650 from a Fiat Professional main dealer.

Sounds like you have been quoted a "go away" price !

I can't personally recommend them, but there have been some good reports by Motorhome and Horse Transporter people about Sheepbridge Commercials.

It might be worth just giving them a bell to get a price comparison.

(Given they service Iveco, ostensibly with the same basic engine, they should be capable).
