I hope someone can please help?

I have recently purchased my first car, 2000 Punto, and love it but have noticed that not all the lights seem to be used. I have side, main and full lights but there is one part on both sides that has no bulb. I asked a friend who knows about cars, but he said not necessary and only used in other models,,,, is this right?

Can anyone tell me if this is right, or if they can be used can I put the same bulbs in there that were in my main headlight (replaced them to try and improve visibility).

Hope you can help as don't like questioning my friend, as he knows about cars and I don't!:bang:

Cheers

That part that has no bulb, is used as a fog light on higher spec cars.

You can get the fog light modules, but think its pretty hard to get them wired up and working correctly.

The light output on these is pretty good, depending on the quality of bulb that is used and if the light is focused. Out of foucs lights will mean poor road visibility and a good chance of blinding on coming traffic.

I used those "xenon white light cheap-o-bulbs" from ebay, not worth it, replaced them with standard Hella bulbs and light output is far far better.

Also worth checking the earth to each headlight if the light output is really poor, could need cleaning to ensure a good voltage is being supplied to each bulb.

Nice one, colinf1' thanks for info, will make sure we check the supply as got some bulbs, from a car parts specialist, that should be 100% brighter but still not great.

Cheers

Oh he'll, thanks for the warning, will keep an eye on it and check it.

Thanks for taking the time to respond

Cheers
