hey, im a new driver infact so new iv not even passed my test yet, anyways iv started adding things to my lovely little punto today at fitted my stereo, a kenwood kdc w3534 to be exact, anyways it happly takes my cd when the engin is on, however the unit doesnt power up.. as in no sound from the speakers and no display on the head unit itself, any ideas?

thanxyou everyone in advance!!!

well it comes with an iso connection block (if thats what its called) so i figuerd that was already wired correctly, however there is a red and yellow wire that have clear plastic around the middle of the wire itself? do you think they have much to do with my problem, IE crossing them, or would that just be a stupid idea!

hey thanks for the welcome, can see myself spending alot of time on here, and in my punto ofcourse :D

so no more replys :( iv tried swapping the red and yellow wires around, to no effect unit wont switch on, tbegining to think its faulty

however there is one more wiring method from the red wire there is 2 pins just a long shot but would connected both yellow and red to both of these pins sort it. if that makes n e sence, anyone got a pic of how the iso connection should be wired so i can see if iv got it right. i forgot to say my punto is a MK2 facelift active 8v (03)

i had asimilar problem with my kenwood i gotthe old mask, what i had to do with mine was cut the yellow wire directly out of the iso block and connect it to a permanent power wire does your head unit come on when when you turn on the ignition, i cant remember if mine did or not.

hi! welcome to the forum, this is how i've wired up the sony hu in my mk2, if you goto the ice section you'll find more advise there

cheers for the replys, im almost convinced its faulty, i mean iv tried both wiring methods, red to red yellow to red both no results, i means it would take a cd andeject a cd but the actual unit wouldnt switch on no lights or sound. gutted i really liked this stereo too :(

is that right?

if it takes and ejects the cd then the hu is getting power, so i'd say its faulty,
is there a code you have to type in before using it, also see if there is a reset button

there is a reset button, but i dont have to type in any codes. iv pressed the reset and nothing happened!

put the orginal fiat stereo back in and now im having the same problem!??!!! could i have blown the fuse on both of them?

all the electrics in the car work fine.

Hi! Im a new driver (not yet passed) I cant help you with the radio situation tho. Whats ur car like then? Also how are you finding the whole learning to drive thing? Ive failed once, bloody reversing around a corner :( lol

not to bad actually, iv got my first test on thurs, so fingers crossed, i love driving my punto about, it drives better imo better then a suzuki swift (my instructors car) tbh id rather take my test in my own car, but its too late to fix that now.

shame bout the whole reverse around corner m8 better luck next time, its the parallel parks i hate.

gutted about my stereo though!

My instructor had a c4 and swapped it for a c2 a couple of weeks ago. I was a reeeally nervous learner but havin my little punto has helped lots. Ive not got as far as to put a new stereo in mine yet. Ive had one donated to me lol, but it wont play mp3's so I doubt i'll put it in, prob just wait till I can buy one that does.

Usually if you tell halfords you bought it from them they'll help you with problems fitting it. When I started learning to drive I had a mechanic bf...now I have a lazy mechanic ex bf so im gona learn what all these something gaskets and blah blah covers mean hehe. Good luck with ur stereo, let me know what it was..i might not understand, but im interested! lol

lol i feel abit stupid not being able to fit it, i mean im quiet good at electronics (kinda) and my understanding is pretty good, just this dont make any sence, the fact iv tried crossing red and yellow, to no effect (the unit wont even take CD's now) so iv figured its eather completly had it, or fuse has gone, my original fiat casset deck has also decided to stop orking on me now, very strange indeed.

so what punto do u have? anyone find that the clutch is really deep?!

just feel bit stupid not getting it to work, i means its actually really easy, i think :S

lol my manhood has been damaged by this faliure :(

oppppsss sorry bout the double post!

Hmmm I tried to reply and it disapeared...?? I'll write what I can remember again..

Ive got a Mk 1 1.2 60 s

lol at the "my manhood has been damaged by this failure" comment. Go eat a yorkie and drink a pint, you'll feel much better. Grrr manly things hehe.

As for deep clutch...if that means it goes down really far..then yes. I have to put my seat really far forward to be able to put the clutch all the way in. Im not espeically short or anything either. If thats not what you ment then erm...*blushes* I dont know

yeah thats exactly what i mean, but what iv also found is that u dont even have to put the clutch right down all the way and she'll go into gear smoothly, lovely :)
