Technical Heavy clunk stiff steering!

Turning right to park heard & felt heavy clunk steering gets stiff difficult to control! Suspected bush joint link of some sort but garage says faulty gearbox shattered ns cv joint! Is this likely? Have members experienced this?

Don't know if its related but my front gearbox/ engine mount was very badly corroded and just hanging on,if it had broken completely I am sure I would have had some serious driveshaft or steering damage.maybe that's what's happened to yours, I was fortunate and replaced the mount,it costs about £65

I had that same thing happen 2 weeks ago and it cost me £430 to sort out. All because the mounting ring around the gearbox failed and caused the other damage
