Heater matrix replacement

Hello,

does anybody knows how difficult it is to remove the heater matrix on a bravo 1.6 (year 2000)?
Do I have to remove the entire dashboard or is there another way for doing that?
I want to remove the heater matrix because everytime I start the blower on hot air, I get an unpleasant smell in the cabin coming from the dashbord.I think that the heater matrix is dirty or it leaks.

Have you replaced the cabin filter?

yes, I just replaced the cabin filter with a new original one, but...no results..the smell is still there.
I was a bit surprised by the fact that the smell is coming out whet I turn on the heat and not the air conditioner ..as most of the cases are...that's why I think it's the heater that's causing me troubles.

you can do it with the dash in situ, but either way its still a royal pain in the derrier!
