Need to apologise in advance for the barrage or problems. Basically fan blower isn’t working on 4. But works on 1,2,3.

Could it be the fan resistor? As I thought the problem there would only be on high?

Thanks in advance
Ross

Hi Ross,

Like you'd I'd have expected that if the resistor pack was playing up it the fans would only operate on setting number 4. I've attached the wiring diagram which might help you make sense of it.

If you look at the wiring diagram where item 030 is the resistor pack, you'll see that setting 4 on the switch, H81, bypasses the resistor pack.

Do you get a certain three obvious speeds on settings 1, 2 and 3? You should hear a distinctive audible change as the motor gets faster.

The obvious thing to do, if you can get access readily enough to it, is to stick 12v directly across the motor. That would prove definitively whether or not the motor is working OK, although it sounds like it is.

The other thing to then investigate is the contacts in the switch panel, see if the position 4 on the switch is working.

Thanks for the prompt and in-depth reply. There certainly is an audible change in speed between 1-3. I think I’ll try the switches first as they’re a little easier to get to I believe.

If memory serves the securing screws for the switch panel is exposed when you remove the stereo. Don't quote me on that though.
