Technical Heated mirrors

Technical Heated mirrors

My 2010 lounge (UK model) has heated mirrors as standard.

Note that the wiring connecting the element to the glass is flimsy and easily broken. Unless you've owned the car from new, it may have been damaged by a previous owner, or the glass could have been replaced with an unheated one.

I once had to strip down a door mirror. Details are in this thread.

If the temperature where you live is anything like it is here just now, I'd wait until the weather warms up before attempting this, unless you can work in a heated space. Plastics can get rather brittle when cold, and parts are (more) easily broken.

Was -8C in Bournemouth last night (brrrr......)

I do wonder if the wiring is there on our pop and just standard glass would really like heated ones, mind if I really wanted I could run a extra wire and DIY it with new heated glass if it's not?
If the wiring isn't in the unheated mirror assembly, then you could always buy or beg a broken heated mirror and swap the internal mirror wiring.

A bigger stumbling block would be if the main loom wiring is different; if it is, the job will be much harder..
