Hi

recently my head unit has been playing up and losing power or ground intermittently. Driving a long and tunes or radio 4 stops! nightmare!

The headunit restarts and is back to normal.

Any ideas? I have a black ground and a red/green power.

However my headunit doesnt seem to work at all UNLESS the antenna is also plugged in.

how far do the radio power and ground wires run behind the dash? Or do you think its best running new ones straight from the battery?

I have tried 2 head units and the same issue happens also tried them in other cars where they work perfectly.

If it works when the aerial is connected it's probably because it has an earth fault but it can get an earth through the aerial lead. I'd trace the earth and check the connection at the end, or just make a new one as a starting point.

100% an earth fault. the radio will be getting the earth through the aerial coax.

use a continuity tester and see if that earth is actually going to ground.
if your panda has a cigarette lighter plug you can just wire it into that.
i wired mine into the headlight loom before the switch so my radio only comes on with the ignition. that way i do not forget to turn it off if i mute/pause it, then come back to find a flat battery.
