Hi there wondering if anyone can help me. we bought a '02 Punto 1.2 active for my daughter as a starter car having turned 17 recently. I took her out for a drive for the first time in it tonight (She has had several hours with a instructor). Being a new driver as expected she stalled it a couple of times, which because of the wiring of the Punto, all the cars exterior lights went out, with it starting to turn dark this is a obvious danger. is there any way the lighting circuit can be changed so that whenever the lights are turned on, they come on and stay on, without the ignition having to be turned on (Even just the side and rear lights would be better than nothing).

I sympathise with your concerns. Turning my children loose on the roads was a big worry. I am sure a competent auto electrician could wire a live feed bypassing the ignition switch. God only knows what the insurance implications could be. I think the stalling could well be fixed before rewiring could be done.:) In the meantime make sure she doesn't delay getting restarted. They should remain on after stalling and only go out when the key is returned to off. Lights shouldn't be out for more than a second.
