Head Unit RMS?

My head unit says 50W x 4 Power Output on it, is this the rms? or the peak? if its the peak then what would be the rms?

thats the peak.

RMS will vary , but will be around 10W. Quality of Headunit will vary it.

if your thinking of powering pretty much any uprated speakers then get an amp other wise your wasteing your money on the speakers
