I'm working on Satan's Rodent again. Been working on the lights today. Got all the main rear lights working now apart from fog and reverse, and that's only because I don't have any yet.

Anyway, now that I have an almost complete set of working lights I don't see any reason why the hazard lights shouldn't work, which they don't. All indicators work fine, including side repeaters, and all the earths are good. Fuses OK too. I think the indicator relay is the same one as the hazard relay is it not? If so then this must be ok or I wouldn't have any indicators at all would I?

If I have the indicators going and operate the hazard light switch the indicators go off, either side, it doesn't matter. No clicking noises and no hazards. I'm thinking it might be the switch. Anyone have any other ideas?

I don't think it's that but I've checked ALL fuses anyway, just in case. No blown ones.

I've been checking in the Porter and Haynes manuals and the indicator relay/hazard relay are the same item so I'm even more inclined to suspect that the switch is faulty.

You can short the cables that go to the switch to check if it's faulty or check the switch using a multimeter (ohm=0 when pressed). That'll take you to the next step witch is wiring to the relay.

Thanks Pandaki. I'd thought of that but my electrical knowledge is limited and I can't work out from the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual which connections I'd need to short. If I unplug either of the two connectors from the switch the indicators stop working. Do you know how I'd set it up so I could short it and which connectors to short. I don't want to go just shorting them at random in case I break anything.

Ok, I had a look at the diagrams. Is it a mkII wiring? If so:
Check if you have power on the red wire.
Sorting Red with red-white you will hear the relay clicking only (no lights)
For the lights you need to short the violet with the light blue for the one side and light blue-black for the other

use wire bridges to short the conecvtors and make fast moves. An arc may apear,
Ah, and keep some spare fusses, just in case... :p
