I need to remove my whole exhaust after the downpipe but i can't frickin get the rubber mounts loose! gah. i tried squeezing the metal part through the mount but it won't go through ! tried lubing it with wd40. no luck.
i think there's 3.

try levering, pulling and stretching. get a small screwdriver in and lever it then pull the exhaust the opposite way and stretch the rubber out. if none of this works cut them off and buy new but one of the first 3 should work.wd40 usually does the trick. just make sure youre not going to get hit by the exhaust when it suddenly slips off the rubber youll be suprised how heavy it feels when it hits you in the face laying on your back!

On a Mk.1 it's easier to remove the plate which holds the rear mountings , it's only a couple of bolts.
