Technical having problems after head gasket blew

Could someone please help me I recently bought an uno 1.1 fire and the head gasket was blown I changed the gasket and did a full service including a new distributor and coil but I'm still battling to start the car I have to pour fuel in the carb to get it started but its doesn't stay on for long it switches off and I battle to start it up again can someone please help me I really dunno what else to do

fuel supply..??,

either no power to pump,( UK models had a cut-off button under passenger seat)

or insufficient fuel for a COLD start..,

Does the car run normally and die out or run rough and stall? You could have the timing a hundred and eighty degrees out if it's the latter.
