hi i brought a coop 16 vt on friday (my first one) my friend has the same model same year. and would you believe my key fits all his locks boot, and doors it just cant start the engine due to the chip in the key. i find this very worring has anyone else got a friend out there with a coop that you could try each others keys on?

there only a limited number of combinations of keys, its not improbable that you have the same key as your friend. Manufacturers take the gamble that a) you're never going to try your key in another car, and b) that keys/locks with the same combinations are never going to be in the same part of the place as eachother.

EDIT: Anybody remember stanford hall where Louis' key opened trancendentals tipo?

well it would be interesting to find out if anyone else knows another coop owner to try it on . ya never know if ya complain to fiat ya might get new locks?

On an 8 year old car? I doubt it.
If we can't sell the lock set on sammi's car, I can have two metal keys for my coupe

And the boot, but just get sammi's old key re-coded.
Or don't get it re-coded and let sammi have it. Then she can sit in the car and make all the noises, like you did when you were a kid! :D
Though Sammi would go, "Vrooooooooom - PSSSSSSCCCCHHHHT!" :p

It still works though, (and it's still damn fast) despite the misfire.
Not driving it right now is my lifestyle choice...
