That bottle of Jack D is out of the window if you pick her up before I get to Vernon's to see Betty.... ;)
That wasn't the deal! :(
It was if I don't buy ANOTHER Panda by the end of the summer.
Why don't you visit at the weekend if I'm picking up Charmania then. We can barrage Vern with questions, confuse him into selling Panda's at a buy one get one free deal.

Sorry....

I just wanted to see Charmania in the flesh... -- which I know I will, eventually...! She's just one of my favourite Pandas.... (y)

I wonder how many bottles of <insert VmanC's usual tipple here> it will take to keep him from putting the finishing touches to her for a week or so...? ;)

Can't make it this weekend: as it's the homewardette's birthday on Saturday (and therefore the unveiling of Godiva...); and the extended family are here for the extended weekend...!

Apologies to the OP for taking this so far :Offtopic:

That would be mean :(. You'll see her at some point, I'll try and attend some sort of meet. At which point strangers will come up to me and ask me how I did all the modifications and I'll have to say I have no idea! :D

What even is this topic about?

My thoughts exactly, I'll measure it tomorrow. I'm not sure the new owner will be best pleased if they come to pick up their Punto and I've cut the roof out of it though.... ;)

Tell 'em it's a rag top convertible (stowing a few taped together bin bags in the boot first mind) :p

I think a panda would run out of suspension travel with a glass roof on it :D

I wondered if anybody had ever made a GP convertible concept.

What on earth is that thing  :yuck:

Do you mean like a Britax Coach roof panel or something from a VW camper conversion? You can get them made to order but they are expensive. The original Panda seal should be enough to ensure no water gets in and a simple hinge and strut set up will be easy to fabricate.

If the material has passed its best I'd go for new canvas roof every time. If the frame is rusty I've made a few out of Stainless Steel so that's less of an issue in the future. If it's a security issue you can get a double duck material lined with steel wire mesh that's almost impossible to cut through. There are plenty of options out there.

Yeah, the frame is really rusty. So may look into just replacing that. The canvas looks to be in good condition. I think just the frame is weak so it's not holding down tight enough. Hence the idea of perspex.

I'll look into it more when I finally get the car back. Cheers for your thoughts guys.

A Panda convertible or coupe is doable but it would look like a Jeep with the roof down. I had an old Triumph Herald Coupe roof that was a close fit but sold it for more than my Panda was worth at the time.

Try these guys...

...for a MGB hardtop and you can re-enforce the floor and sides with some box section between the sills and floor plates in a "T" frame that comes up inside the "B" pillar.
