I saw one in Skegness the other weekend. I think it's the only one I've seen on the road.

I bought one on a 55 plate on pcp two years ago. 2 years to go and still loving it...... The Mrs loves her idea..... Makes a change from driving my motor as well.... Good car thats no longer available. Shame. Although the Meriva seems to be filling the gap with its bread tin look! Lucky them..

I bought a 2004 1.3 JTD (70 Bhp) model about a month ago. For what it is, it's not a bad car. It's roomy and economical and drives o.k. The only real negative thing I would say about it is that the 70 Bhp model is pretty gutless. I've fitted a tuning box and sports air filter to mine and it has helped a bit and the fuel economy has improved slightly as well. It does what I want it to do.

I've just bought a 1.3 (70bhp) one off ebay.uk. For my parents in fact. I liked the slightly higher seating which I hope will suit my parents in their more advanced years. I remember it being released and thought it was worthy. Not many of them here in Ireland either. I particularly like the 1.3 Multijet having had a number of diesels in the past. The trip computer if correct is returning above 57mpg. I find the performance fine but if you are driving to bring up the mpg, performance is not the bottom line anyway. I wonder if there are any statistics of people of crash from staring at the trip computer! I found the trip computer easy to use too (easier than the VW one anyway)

My concern with it as with all modern cars is how are they going to be fixed at a reasonable cost.

The Active is basic enough, I suppose by modern standard but still fine.

Point of interest (to some maybe)
When you import a secondhand car into Ireland you are liable for Vehicle Registration Tax which is a percentage of what the Revenue Commissions think it's worth. In the past, it was based on engine size, bigger engines liable to a higher percentage. Since July, it's based on Co2 emissions making diesels in general cheaper to import. However, Tax on cars older than 2008 is still paid on the cc of the engine so this 1.3 will be considerably less than a possibly equally efficient 1.9 TDI from VW. Since Jan of this year, tax is paid based on Co2 emissions too.

Last couple of holidays in Italy Hertz have given me a 1.3 multijet, the first time I thought "thanks pal" as we needed to cover a lot of miles to get to our holiday rental, hae to say wether belting down the motorway or up in the mountains (VERY twisty and steep) performance was great, comfort was fine fairly comfortable but a little souless, great holiday rental but not sure I would want to own one.

We bought a 12 month old 1.4 Eleganza in January 2006 - absolutely loved it, but gave it up in February 2008 to get a Stilo Multiwagon.

The Idea was brilliant but short of boot space, which became an issue, as my son has special needs and uses an outsize pushchair - so the Stilo was perfect.

As for others - a friend had one, but has now gone for a Renault, and my son's pre-school specialist has a Multijet Idea. Both of them thought they were fantastic too.

See quite a few round about the Dundee area (and Fiats in general) - loads of old stylee Bravas and current Pandas, Bravos, Puntos, I even see a Croma regularly. And loads of Doblo taxis....
