Anyone know how to adjust the front handles..need the front edge of the lid to lock down tighter on the top of the windscreen..without having to pack something under the seal..?

You will need a small allen key [or anything L shaped] so you can push the pad out, which means you can then turn the handle and there will be a hole to go through to get to the screw. Previously posted here regarding a loose screw

This should give access to the plate the handles sit on and I believe there are screws that can be undone so that you can repositon the plate the handles are attached to.

Thanks for that. The B is starting to fear me when I appear with a toolbox. Herself says the car has the same fear that she has with the gynaecologist..

Had a 'lightbulb' idea for hardtop window adjustment..and it works.

The hardtop seals are flexible and can move about 3-4mm out which is normally well within the glass-rubber gap distance.

Pull the seals away from the hardtop frame and run a length of self adhesive draft excluder..the stuff DIY stores sell on rolls..all around the metal frame inside the seal. Push the seal back so its flush with the bodywork and you should find that the seal is forced forward 2-3mm which should be enough to seal the gap.

Lot easier than stripping down the doors.

<<Snip>>Pull the seals away from the hardtop frame <<snip>>

Which reminds me, I need to, er glue, the nearside seal back to the hardtop, it seems I hadn't poured enough water on the seals one frosty morning last winter and the sound of rubber being torn away could be heard.

The water now streams in along the door window roof line and therefore leaks more than the soft top top which has gaping holes in it. :bang:

Hi, I am trying to setup my hardtop but to no avail i seem to have a similar gap on both sides right near where the window glass curbs.. otherwise on both sides it fits perfectly.. its almost as though the rubber itself is pushing it out some and thus not a proper seal is made... I ve gone nuts trying everything but to no avail.. any ideas, thoughts? anything?!!!!!

easy. Strip the doors. make window adjustmenst, probably do it 5-6 times over, done

allready done a few times, i think either the hardtop is bent or the windshield or something... if i pull the rubbers forward i get a great seal at the front but the windows budge out towards the back right before the curve, if i pull them back then the windows fit at the curve perfectly but there is a gap at the front. the hardtop its self cant be moved further forward....maybe its time to readjsut my doors? :D:D:D

I think I will pull the rubbers back and use some windshield glue stuff to seal the gap at the front..

From my experience of wind noise from hard or soft top.

Adjustment only helps if the plastic guides that hold the window are intact.

If these window guides have been broke, which is (easily done by pushing the door closed by the window) instead of the solid door.

Replacing these allows the window to go up nice and tight but the original ones on the barchetta are weak and can snap very easily should you close the door by pushing on the window.

Henks sells upgrade plastic guides which are not cheap but should solve this problem or alternately have some made and then sell to every one else.. :).

there was a group-buy years ago... not sure if was from Henk. maybe if there are more interested peoples somebody could reopen that.

I ve already changed the driver's side ones a couple of years back and they seem to be fine and still the problem persists. I was one of the mass buy peeps so I have four more at home tried to install them on the passenger side window yesterday but the front side screw that holds the window on the frame has lost it's thread hence I cant unscrew it. Any ideas how to get it out?:mad::mad:
