Handbrake problems

I've just had top have my shoes replaced as the braking material had been ripped off, maybe cos the handbrake had stuck on. where is this rubber grommet that leaks water? Is there anything that can be done to stop it happening again like putting grease on it?

If you are reffering to the ruber gromet in the guide - then its left/right of the bonet hinges.

The handbrake can be cured with putting some greese on the ends of the cables, where they leave the “coating“. So the watter cant get in.
