Technical Handbrake Light

HI GUYS LOOKING FOR SOME HELP I USED TO USE THIS FORUM WHEN I HAD A SEICENTO UNTIL I SMASHED IT UP

ANYWAY IVE GOT A DOBLO VAN THROUGH WORK AND WHENEVER I GO AROUND A ROUNDABOUT OR TURN RIGHT SHARPISH THE HANDBRAKE/CAUTION LIGHT COMES ON ANY IDEAS WHY

Most likely to be a loose handbrake switch. Try taking the handbrake gaiter off and having a look there to see if the switch is loose.

I haven't got the handbook available at the moment but is the same light used for the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservior? It could be its a bit low and as it 'sloshes' to one side as you corner it could be enough to activate the sensor.

If the level is low don't just top it up and ignore it. There is usually enough in there to account for the pads/shoes wearing down and the level dropping without activating the sensor. Get the brake system inspected to make sure that a dangerous leak hasn't started.

Please don't think I'm trying to be alarmist but brakes are something that should always be kept in good condition.

I had that problem a couple of years ago, just top it up with brake fluid & that should cure it.

DON'T just top brake fluid up if its low. There may be another reason for it. The brake fluid is in a sealed system so it could be leaking (which you would feel with spongy brakes ), or simply your brake pads need replacing

As your brake pads wear down the pistons pushing them against the brake discs have to move further out of the calipers, so more fluid is needed in the caliper instead of the master cylinder (the place you top it up)..

CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID AND I WAS WAY OVER THE MAX LIMIT I DRAINED SOME OUT TO MAX LEVEL BUT THE LIGHT STILL COMES ON
