My handbrake light flickers on when ever I'm accelerating. Is this just a loose connection somewhere or does it mean I've got a problem coming up?

Is it the handbrake light (Circle with solid outer lines) or the brake fluid low / brake wear light (circle with broken outer lines). If its the latter its probably, .. well,.. low fluid!

If its not then I don't know. Both my 156's had the handbrake light coming on if I was really throwing it about but never quite worked out why!

Re: Re: Handbrake light flickers on when accelerating

Cheers Nige, I'll keep an eye on which light it is and ignore/check brakes accordingly!

Mine too!

I get that as well, especially when accelerating hard up hill or being a bit enthusiatic round corners.
Definately the handbreak light, not the brake warning light.
Its done it for a few months now and hasn't got any worse?

Re: Mine too!

yeah i had this too - when u accelerate the fluid tips back and sensor drops down (its on end of a float) mine was cos i was losing fluid - fast - thru a split caliper hose. check hoses, drum cylinders for seal wear, and keep an eye on fluid. top it up and if it drains again, you have a leak somewhere, get it sorted asap. as i found out no brakes is v.scary!!
