I've planned the items I'm
going to buy,
Sub & Amp, 2 6.5 inch speakers, & new head unit.
NOW
should I use halfords fitting service, or buy the items & fitting elsewhere.

Whats wrong with them?
And yeah I'd try fit them myself, but I'm
really bad with practical work, and I'm colorblind so wiring isn't easy :/

in regards to ICE they don't stock any good quality brands and items and when it comes to fitting i just wouldn't trust them to do it as they will probably cut corners to save time and money

if you don't want to fit it yourself then personally i would take it to a independent ICE specialist preferably a recommended one where they have a reputation to uphold

also that way you can ask them for advice etc

Hmm yeah, I'm not so much bothered about the quality of the products as I am the quality of my car when it comes back :p I'll have a think about it may give them a try, if they f*** up, I'm demanding refunds and things, if it's alright, I'll be happy, as long as I get my bass, :p

To be honest mate I wouldn't trust a place like Halfords with any serious sort of wiring. They are more of a distributor than a garage.. They just offer the fitting service because the majority of their customers are probably middle aged men and women :)

There are a couple of issues here. The first being that it is difficult to improve the sound of the front speakers without an amp. In fact they will be quieter than standard if just running from the HU.
This problem could be minimised by sound deadening properly and installing in proper MDF baffles. Not the cheapy plastic rubbish ones that Halfords will sell you.

Ah volxstu, I've been told you can help me on this audio problem :p
Well there is an amplifier in with the subwoofer or will there have to be another one for the speakers? Unless it powers the whole lotq?

Mate my girlfriend works there and has recommended you go elsewhere.

Im no audio expert and SOMETIMES the fitting is OK, however I would go to a specialist audio supplier or fit yourself.

OFF-TOPIC: a manager recently, at the halfords branch where my mrs works, put a car battery on the wrong way round and shorted a BMW, cost Halfords £3k to fix.

Just my opinion dude :)

Still you will be using the 2 channels of the amp to run the sub so you will need another 2 channel amp to run the speakers up front.
What package are you looking at right now?
