I'm looking at getting some Grigio Steel mixed up and just wondered if anyone has had paint mixed by Halfords and what they thought it came out like? How close a match was it?

Fiat Bravo 1.2 80sx - 100,000 miles - and a new exhaust! :)

Yeah good match, about 98% perfect but i doubt you'll get a 100% match without getting someone to mix it for you and keep sampling it till they got it right. The laquer is crap though. Motor-Worlds Carplan paint is much better than Halfords and you get a bigger spray can for the same price. However they dont do custom colours.

I had ink black done for my bravo, was a mile out. Try NC Motor spares

yea halfords mixed me some heraldic blue , i refused to pay for it it was so far out.

I tried to get some paint mixed at hellfrauds, (they were nearest) a couple of years ago for Dad's XJ-S.

I went to them armed with car's exact model, year, complete chassis number, Jaguar colour name,(Silver Birch) and maker's colour code taken from the car itself, confident with all that info even they could'nt cock it up.

I think you can guess - those tw*ts said 'Certainly Sir' and then came with something greyish only slightly close and insisted I'd got it wrong and that it was really called 'Silver Bark'.

I just went to a proper bodyshop instead - no probs.

I got some ink black paint from them. didnt match the car at all! rubbish!

Do years of exposure to the sun not affect the shade of paint?...or is that just red

Mainly red.Red has iron in the paint so degrades with the sunlight
