H was going to a stag do in bournemouth tonight, i got a call about an hour after he left saying he is on his way home

So when he got home he said the coupe was misfiring, and sounded like a tank, he is one unhappy bunny.

Anyway he was in a bit of a sulk, and i dont really blame him cos i have had many sulks at my coupe (RIP) when things go wrong, but i think this has clinched it, he wants to sell.

I don't want him to sell, but he thinks he should sell both cars and get a a decent reliable car.

I just think its a shame cos he spent months with the car off the road waiting for his hybrid, seems silly to want to get rid of it over something thats so small, but then again it is a coupe and small things still cost the earth, but i know his next car wont be a fiat...

A true Fiat enthusiast we have here, once the two are sold he can be a Corolla driver and get to anywhere no problem but the dullness will spread into his body and his skin will turn a grey plastic dash colour and then there is no escape from japdom.

i think with funds being a bit tight he is just getting pissed off with the car, i think no matter how simple it is he has just had enough.

And stilo is a def :nono:

I must admit, if i dont get a coupe again then i will have to move on from fiats unless they produce a decent sports car again.

I have suggested a lotus :)

what to help him keep calm? :p

Perhpas he'll gift his car to you? (once he gets it fixed)

i still have mine although a little crumpled

I think every coupe owner has been there, they are expensive cars to keep on the road and even the little things add up.

I am not going to try and stop him if he wants to get rid, but you never get back what you spent on it, but then again the spending never stops

If he's taking it to Gaydon tomorrow, I could take a look. Sounds like a coil pack/spark plug from what you've said...

Basically there's a misfire throughout the rev range. At higher revs it's not so noticable. At lower revs it's very noticable. Still sounds smoother than a Scooby though, even on only 4 cylinders!
The injector light hasn't come on at all, so I think it's not a faulty injector, though it could be a blocked one. Can't see how though, after all, that's what fuel filters are for! It could be a busted spark plug, though it shouldn't be that likely. Or it could be a broken coil pack, which I think is the most likely option. Haven't got round to checking the spark plugs yet, but will get a spare coilpack from my usual mechanic.
Let's hope it's not an injector problem, they are not so easy to get to.

Unleaded petrol naturally decays in the fuel tank particularly if there is moisture and condensation in the fuel. Acids form, creating lacquer and varnish which is then deposited throughout the fuel system. These contaminants restrict tight tolerance components such as fuel injectors and cause corrosion due to the acidic nature of the fuel.

Fuel flow through injectors becomes restricted leading to an incorrect air/fuel ratio and mixture formation resulting in a misfire.
