i want a new car.
iv got a bravo 1.2 16v and after nearly 3 yrs, im bored.
thing is im a student, so i havent got much extra cash to put into a car, maybe £2000 on top of what its worth.
i know they dont look as good as the bravo, but im seriously considering a 145 2.0.
they are fast most come with leather. not worth much either.

has anyone got any experience with these cars?
are they reliable? fast?

thanks for feed back....

nige is probably your man to ask? i think he had a 156 and knows his **** when it comes to alfa's

I really like them and almost got one instead of the HGT.
I think the biggest thing to check if your going to get one is that all the electrics work, if not it can be expensive to fix.
Their reasonably quick and have better fuel consumption figures than an HGT.
One more point, like Fiats you may find it difficult to get hold of parts.

hey hey - talking my language!

Right ho, basically if there was ANY aspect of reliablity or build quality that you didn't like on the Bravo, the 145 will be three times worse.

It is the same basic t spark lump that had been proved in the 155 2.0 and is a cracking engine, but it needs to be thrashed.... and that is why you should be very very wary. The people that bought Alfa Romeo's between 1980 and 1999 were real Alfa drivers and they bought their cars as enthusiasts - or stupid like me! Would you have bought a 33 or 75 or a car that I have owned!

This means that they WERE thrashed! They were thoroughly enjoyed as well, but beleive me you are buying expensive trouble. If you are prepared for stupid things like £400 for a back box, three weeks for an alternator and dealers that suck air through their teeth even when you ask them for simplest of items then buy one!

I never actually owned a 145 GCL but I did drive a number of them and they are fun to drive and stick to the road like not a lot else really - except maybe a Sud. The interior was woefull though!

I personally would not buy one, there a lot of cars that I would waste my money on, and have, but the 145 is not one of them. The 146 (sort of Brava to a Bravo equivalent) in Ti form is a better built car and slightly less likely to have been thraped, but thats a marginal choice.

So, you need to have at least £1000 rising to £1500 spare to keep it going year on year or it will end up at a back street garage sadly sitting at the back with flat tyres.
I hope that wasnt too near the knuckle, but please feel free to email me if you want more specific information or help

Now if someone gave me one...........

thanks....

i c what u mean, but i generally thought it would be more reliable than my fiat. On friday the gear box blew up again, (second time) at traffic lights.
so its going to be on it 3rd gearbox and its only done 40,000miles.
my uncle had one and said its was amzing, but all have been thrashed. so i am a bit warry about finding one that hasnt.
its either that or a bravo HGT. i dont really wanna go German, no style.

cheers again, il keep u posted...
