Got home from work @ half 2 today after a easy day so thought id try replace the tensioner myself seen as my mate never turned up!
got the old 1 off and moved it about and it had a bit of play in it and you could hear the bearings inside when i span it.So fitted the new one, started the car up (hour or so later) and it still whistled but very faintly :s

Begninng to think its the cambelt tensioner(s) that are making the noise as when i got the new engine only the cambelt got replaced by the owner, i just replaced filters, liquids and belts.

Karl:

Yea thats the one Mikey, its the one that sits right next to the bottom engine mount near the bottom pulley and the bottom PS pump to the right. Its a doddle to get off x2 13mil bolts and a 17mil spanner needed to turn tensioner to slacken the belt, may need a flat head screwdriver to prise it away from the engine

its a doddle to get to says karl lol
But how long did it take you and did you use a trolley jack/axle stand and did you take the bottom engine mount off??
I used Fiat's sissor jack lol took me about an hour and half and with a bit of help from the missus to pri down the tensioner so i can tighten the belt....what a ball ache lol

lol..... it was easy and i had the same jack as you and i did it at night with a helmet light and a spanner.. admittedly i needed an extra pair of hands to like you say hold down the tensioner...
