Guess the price

Just booked my car in (155 HGT) for its first MOT
next monday at a independent garage.
Work that needs doing is

Handbrake tightning
New front fog (again !)
New clutch spring (again !!!!)
Problem with rear brake light - intermitant doesn't
always work.

So whats your guess on the price ?
I know at FIAT they said at least £200 for the lot -
depends how long it takes to figure out the brake
light problem.

I rekon about 100, its usually half Fiats price.
I have a 155 hgt and I was quoted just over £400 for the cam belt to be done by a good local garage, but from what i see on this forum Fiat would charge twice that (at least!).

MOT

I seem to remember being told fogs dont come into an MOT. A previous marea of mine passed with a cracked fog lens

Fogs

If they are fitted they need to work. If the lenses are cracked but there is no sign of them being filled with water or the reflecters are not rusted then it will pass.

Well to answer the question , Nigel is right about the fog lights - as long as they shine correctly they are ok.

Car passed MOT first time , total cost of MOT , hand brake adjustment , new clutch spring fitted (i provided part) , new fog lamp fitted (I provided part - previous garage has threaded screws so thought leave
it to someone with right tools !) , intermittent rear brake light fault found and repaired - £97 quid

Not bad !
