Well i bought the Cinq back end of November last year my Nova died and i needed a car fast so i went to the auction and bought the Cinq.

I needed a car that was pretty maintenence free and was just ready to drive so i could concentrate on other things and it was for a MONTH!!!

So the other day the alternator went so i have replaced that, ever since i replaced it the car has developed a miss fire, it didnt have it before and now it runs like S**T.

I have checked the plugs and leads bit sooty and leads arent brand new but all seem fine, what else can i check im reluctuante to spend money on it as it needs taxing at the end of the month.

Any ideas guys?:bang:

What I think you've most probably done (and what I did the first time) is put the crank pully on the wrong way. It can be put on 3 different ways (3 bolts), and only one way is correct. There is a little keyway on the engine side, and a tiny hole that it lines up onto on the altenator belt pully and they can very easyly be put on the wrong way, plus they hayens manual dosent mention it. So jest turn it the right way and it should be fine, as the patterent on the outside of the pully is the reading for the TDC sensor so your ignition is getting a wrong reading, hence the misfire.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Sion

Hiya matey thank you for the response,

When i changed the Alt i didnt take off the crank pull or the sensor or i didnt do it on purpose lol

I took drivers wheel off plastic covering dropped one side of engine took it off and fitted new one.

Pretty shure you cant take the belt off without removing the pully or atleast the TDC sensor, might have knoced the sensor out of line? There sensative to stuff like that

Thanks

Sion
