Hi.
I have a 1.6 105hp. When I go over 60km/h, a growling sound starts from front. The sound increases proportionally with speed
The first two wheel hub bearings have been replaced. We are checking the stub axles and looks good. Anybody can help where i need to search the problem?
(Sorry my english)

Model
1.6d
Year
2008
Mileage
198000
Try jacking and supporting a wheel then very gently run each gear at very low revs see if you can hear if its the gearbox. At 108000 miles I had a bearing start growling on 5th and 6th gears. This will cause the ABS light to come on. Im pretty sure they went off again after a short run without further intervention. You may need MES to clear the 'fault'.

I added molyslip which made it much quieter and I part exchanged it. I really wish I had had that gearbox repaired as the 105hp is a superb machine with 232lb/ft of torque which matches the VW Golf TDI 2.0 Not the fastest but a fantastic super economical long distance tourer.

I went to the mechanic today and it is true that the problem is with the transmission. He said that the transmission bearings are probably broken. He recommended that we change the oil and put metabond plus gt in it. With new transmission oil+ metabond gt plus can I use it more or this only money waste and buy a new one?

That's not gonna fix worn bearings

In the middle of the long axle shaft ( right side shaft ) is one bearing on the shaft. The bearing stay inside bearing house so you need to remove the shaft and check or replace the bearing.
