Hi guys my first post
when i brake there seems to be a grinding from the back
my expert uncle said I needed new front brake pads or discs
wrong i did that n it still did
Im thinking the rear drum is catching or the handbrake cable is faulty and not retracting properly when released
any help is appreciated

Only easy way to find out what is going on is to:

1) place car in 1st gear
2) chock on rear wheel
3) jack up other rear wheel (do 2 & 3 in turn, N/S & O/S)
4) release handbrake
5) rotate wheel by hand. Should be free, no noise and spin a little after a good rotation push.

This should identify which wheel (or possibly both) is causing the problem.

Once this is done you can then remove the wheel and get a good look at the brakes/drum and handbrake cable. If you have a drum as opposed to discs at the rear then you will have to take the drum off to properly inspect.

Your uncle is an 'expert' in what, exactly?
