Thought I had better do the decent thing and introduce myself before trawling through the posts and seeing if any one has the same problem I do with my 53 plate 1.2 8v Punto.

Will read on and see if any one else has same problem of a ticking noise when you put your foot down and a lack of power in the damp and cold mornings.

My CBR is not that rapid she has only ever taken me up to 140 mph, verified by sat nav not speedo. But my little Punto has been fine for well over 18 months, I think that as an Italian Lady she is just sulking in the cold and wet.

Seriously, I suspect coils, bad earth and or crank shaft sensor. I am doing more research and will let every one know what I find.

being a motorbikist i would have thought you would know that ht leads always find the shortest way to earth and on a motorbike its usually through wet kegs
change plugs and leads as priority no 1

I am happy to report that I have already looked at the leads when it was nice and dark and didn't get the fairground lighting effects that accompany lead breakdown. I have also checked the resistance of the coils and they are all with in tolearance.

I have also checked for any voltage difference between engine and body work and it looks like its well earthed.

Additionally, I disconnected the lambda sensor to see what difference that made and it actually stopped some of the engine hunting. I don't think that I have found the fault though as it could still be air flow sensor or crankshaft sensor.

My search continues..
